I Was Underpaid…

so I created options for my clients.

As an event stylist, I was under charging my expertise and anything I had to offer. Basically, I was giving away my services, and working harder than ever.

What were my choices?

Create plans that gives the potential customer an idea what THEY need to bring to the table for me to leave my office.

Phone consults are free; we talked about that. BUT, with the plans listed on the site, they have a great idea what questions to ask while on the phone.

I was underpaid, and dying from it.

Yes, the plans are being added as we speak. Some may need a little fine tuning,but the basics are definitely there.

Event planners, charge what you worth; never go underpaid!

Never Deviate YOUR Time

As a business owner, my time is very valuable. When I create a schedule I want my clients, or soon to be clients, to adhere to it.

There have been times where I have given a little grace for my clients to contact me after hours or I have made arrangements to meet with them after hours. YET, no more. It is 2010 and I cannot allow myself to deviate from my scheduled hours. It takes away from my personal and family time.

Business owners and event planners, don’t deviate from your scheduled open and closed hours. You have to be stern about this or they will never take you seriously as a business person and your family will forget who you are.

An event planner/stylist should be just that, just a stylist. YET, sometimes a stylist must be wear many hats.

In this current economy, you might have to offer different services through your event planning. It does not mean to sell clothing on the site, but maybe bridal party jewelry, or invitations. Why not decorations?

Consider your options in being a one-stop shop for your clients. This not only helps you bring in more clients and more money, it helps your clients eliminate the run work for the wedding or grand event.
So take inventory of what you don’t have, and ADD IT!

I WILL NOT go through another sit down appointment and not get paid the deposit. Sorry, my time is worth it. I am a stylist and I don’t play with my time. Being a home business owner doesn’t make me exempt from the costs to run a business and run it effectively. The time to drive to you, meet with you, draw up the contract, etc..costs!

What are you looking for?

I have been working on my extreme bio for my motivational speaking, and while doing so I have looked at all of my businesses; researching what I offer and what my client needs. I have been looking at what is working for me in all aspects of business and what has not. This is an essential key to developing a good, no a great, platform for my speaking. Marketing, networking, promotions, etc….are elements that go into getting the word out, about me…but what is it about ME that YOU are looking for.

Well, first comes first; What makes me different than the next event planneror service provider? What makes me stand out?

1. I am a stylist, not just a planner. The key elements (venue, decoration) bring out any event so I put 100% in those elements and 100% in bring the event to life.

2. I never let them see me sweat. As an event planner you have to take the good with the bad and move forward with all the weight that is put on MY shoulders. I have tough skin and work well under pressure….and do NOT mind being security and telling it like it IS!

3. My spirituality is important to me and WILL BE shared with you. Well, why not? My purpose in life is to build God’s kingdom AND prosper, AND believe me kingdom building comes first.

With those few character essentials what comes second is: Why do you NEED me?

I am the one that takes customer service to another level. When I say platinum you say budget…we can both agree on something grand.

Ladies and gentlemen, make money and leaving a legacy for your children is desirable in this day and time, but building relationships that keeps them asking for me is just as essential.

I have noticed in the stream of this failing, falling and struggling economy, that businesses need to market what they have in the form of a discount or free.
I know I know! Times are rough all over, but if you look at what you offer in your events, travel, or gifts businesses, there is something you can giveaway. Better yet, have a contest, or a raffle FOR your services.
Right now, you are a sales person for whatever you do; decide to be a marketer for what you need.
It takes effort AND time. Start thinking!
